ICly, Rankings will show the points earned of all Pokemon in guilds, including NPC Pokemon not listed here OOCly. We didn't list guild leaders this time, but might in the future for fun. Keep in mind that quests available to player characters are not the entire pool of quests, and that some are likely snatched up before they can get to them regularly, which is how points vary and how some guilds pull ahead even without much player help. QUEST UPDATES & IMPORTANT NOTICES

A big thank-you to everyone enjoying Bottlecap Bay’s Questboard system! We have a quick note regarding quest deadlines, which can be seen in the current posting.

After internal discussion, we have decided to adjust the deadlines for quests to give mods more breathing room for processing. For light quests, this is just a few days before the end of the month! But for heavy quests, the initial submission is being moved closer to the middle of the month. This will ensure that mods have enough time to write customized experiences for these quests, while players are still given enough leeway to begin their follow-up thread and submit it.

In addition, following the dreamshare event, the kinks in the Grumpearl upgrades have been ironed out, and a handful of new Grumpearl features are available!

Characters are now able to block pearl messages - both blocking all public transmissions while still receiving inbox transmissions, and/or blocking specific other characters (whether messages are public or inbox). If a character is blocked, but is sending something in public, the blocker will still perceive public responses to that character unless they block all public transmissions. A blocked character will be able to tell that they were blocked only once they try to send an inbox transmission to whoever blocked them, in which case they'll feel it being rejected - in public, it will just seem as though they're being ignored. A blocked character will also still be able to see all public transmissions made by whoever blocked them.

(OOCly, this has been calculated for maximum drama. Please enjoy.)

In addition, characters are now optionally able to have a Grumpearl wake them up if they receive a message in their sleep. (The Grumpigs promise there will be no more dream hiccups!)

As a final note, we realized some points went missing during December’s calculation - this has hopefully been fixed, but please let us know if that isn’t the case!

There are a lot of exciting things planned for the incoming year, so please continue to enjoy Bottlecap Bay!

INCOMING EVENTS

Reports of mysterious, over-powered Pokemon have begun filtering back to the bay, meriting investigation! Unfortunately, chaos doesn’t take turns - after all the warning and preparations, February brings a massive avalanche and Pokemon in Skull Town preparing for exploration will find themselves sidetracked in responding to disaster! Of course, that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the thawing winter either.

And here's my new guy. His name is Oko. He is not a good person. But he's also a very traumatised guy. Originally coming from a faerie-tale world known as Lorwyn-Shadowmoor (which is known for switching between those two), Oko fled his fate of being a vessel for his cruel mother-figure. And then he made up his original backstory. (Or something happened to him in another place similar to it - being tortured to try and stop him from being so... individual.)

And by fled, I meant he gained the ability to travel the multiverse, as a Planeswalker. He settled down for a bit, had a wife, but then he got too defensive over her, hurt people, and fled. This is truly when he became the Oko you will see here - a trickster who has no sense of morality, who hates hypocrites and also hates order in general. He had the ability to shapeshift himself and others, hypnotise people, and enjoyed creating chaos. He only truly learned he was a father recently. After a heist gone wrong when he was in Cowboy World. (AKA, Thunder Junction.) He was about to be turned to stone, having been tricked by a man named Jace to find the treasure of the Vault...

Instead of just Planeswalking and blipping somewhere safer, he is now a cute lil Zorua. And he will be taking the form of a Stantler. He likes elks.

...Oh? Last month? The dreams he had was of his other half. I mentioned Lorwyn-Shadowmoor? Well, Oko has two halves as well, and his Shadowmoor self has a bit more... responsibility. He has a bit of dysphoria, because he's stuck as his Lorwyn self. He hasn't gone though the character development of the latest in-universe set release.

PLANS:

First of all, look at this quest! Oko is trying to get people to investigate for him and fool themselves. Other then that, he can be dragged on light or heavy quests - though he'll probably cause Problems. That's what he does! It's what's expected of him! Oko is hoping to fully badmouth Jace, to either get his attention or just to laugh at it. I think it'd be funny if he was dragged on Frightening Freeze, though, because of his own. Illusion Stuff.

Emporio was made to be a Cubone. He's got his mom's bones sitting in his house as we speak (thanks SINTO), he's got the sad backstory, the tragedy, the works. He's adjusted very well to being in Bottlecap, on account of it being so much better than...Basically everything he's had! ..And other spoiler reasons. Emporio's still trying to design his High-tier house, so he still lives in a middle tier with Anasui, and over all he can be seen...basically helping at the clinic, or at the Guild Archives. If it wasn't all snowy out, he'd be doing a lot more around the town!

Unfortunately, it's snowy, and while it's probably gonna melt at some point, he's very allergic to all of that on account of him being a ground type. Big oofs. Good kid over all though.

PLANS:

QUESTSSSSSSS. Last month I took a bit of a breather from quests, mostly to try and get some stuff in order (though I did do one or two small ones anyway)...But this month!!!

Looking at the Heavies, since we can only pick one for our characters, I'm absolutely going for that Glittering Guerrilla! I'm down to have a team of just two, but I'm also okay with a team of three- I figure, as long as we can manage tag order, it should be fine!

Beyond the Bounty, Emporio probably can't really do a whole lot on the other quests...but I'm happy to join others for them regardless, and I'll also be keeping an eye on Player quests!!

(Don't think I can make my own player quest sadly which means chances are high the glitter bone clean up will have to just be a thing featured in a log. Alas....)

Parvati is a kindhearted woman from the far future where everyone lives in a capitalist hellscape called outer space. She's been in the Bay for a while now and has been grappling with a lot of feelings about her own morality which I'd like to bring to the forefront at some point. She can't exactly help her nature as a bloodthirsty Tinkaton but she doesn't feel great about it either, and she's said a lot of things she doesn't agree with in hindsight. But she is still very sweet and very kind, always willing to help a friend, etc.

As the Bay's engineer turned handywoman characters may have seen her around regardless of having actually spoken to her because she's always on a side quest. She will even aid in side quests! As an RPG companion please let her carry your heavy inventory she is dying to carry your heavy inventory. She misses home an awful lot, her girlfriend especially since she's been away from her longer than they were together, and is dealing with that normal style.

PLANS:

First off: I am totally down to keep backtagging the TDM! That was a juicy prompt and I think everyone still had the hangover from the holidays so if anyone does want to continue on that feel free to! On the future planning side of things - I got my shit together and my points in order (thank you Bre!), so the photo log post thingy will probably happen sometime this month. Which is definitely better for both thematic and practical reasons.

I definitely wanna get both my girls into a heavy quest but Parvati's unsurprisingly locked and loaded to do one with Perrin. See Eleanor's below if you wanna do a heavy with me still. In terms of other quests, Parvs is always down to be a good samaritan so just lemme know! She can do them with whoever since Perrin's gonna deal with the horrors. I would like some CR shennanigans this month in lieu of Valentine's (hence the photo) and you all may have to deal with her being a useless biromantic. Sorry.

Eleanor is doing pretty bad still! Less bad than before, I'd imagine, but still bad. You would be too if you underwent the most traumatic shit in your already extremely traumatic life then got turned into a seal to undergo further horrors.

Heralded as the messiah, the first true Utopian for her mother's insane collectivist cult, Eleanor's not actually sure how to be a normal person. At all. She's slowly figuring it out but this is very slow. She's gone from unlocking the true scope and potential of her powers to being shoved into a powerless seal body, and it's frustrating to say the least. At least she knows Flamethrower now. She still has a lot to learn and genuinely wants to be friends with as many people as she can - she wants to live her life on her terms as much as she can now that she is free from Rapture's depths.

PLANS:

PLEASE DO A HEAVY QUEST WITH HERRRR. I'm immediately drawn to FRIGHTENING FREEZE because it sounds like a fun way for Eleanor to get in way over her head. I've not really had a chance to show off her lemming-tier survival instincts just yet. I'd be happy enough to do any of them with her, I just think that one also has really funny CR potential if it's going where I'm fairly certain it is going since Eleanor was not there when that mess started.

Aside from that? CR is always on the table as are small quests but CR for Eleanor is my main goal this month. Parvati has lots of friends while Eleanor has lacked interaction because I apped her at an awkward time. But that is OKAY we can fix it! For this reason I'm also gonna offhandedly offer backdated inbox threads to anyone she already has CR with but hasn't had much interaction with because of the holiday hangover.

Ren has been here since th start, and he's learned a thing or two about being a Pokemon, and about himself. He's still the same reckless, showy Phantom Thief we all know and love, but he's gotten a bit calmer while being here... mostly out of necessity. He got hit early on with supernatural nightmares, and still has a nasty forehead scar and chronic pain as a result. He's learned to live with it, mostly, but sometimes needs to be reminded to sit down and rest. He just cares a lot about his friends and about doing the right thing! (note: the right thing may not always be what you expect. He can be a bit of a troll, after all.)

He and Akechi have also entered a relationship, but they're still competing all the time! In fact, isn't this relationship a bit of a competition in itself...? Scary!

For christmas, he also got his Phantom Thief outfit back, made to fit his Pokemon form. Swanky!

PLANS:

I'm planning to have Ren do a heavy quest with Akechi and Noelle, but some smaller quest are definitely also on the menu! If you don't mind handwaving them, I won't mind either (in fact, I may prefer it; SAD continues to affect me).

TOTAL WHITEOUT, BLINK AND MISSING, TOUGH LUV and LIGHT CONSTRUCTION are all quests Ren would like to do this month. The player quest TRIANGLE MAN also intrigues him. He's not sure what exactly Oko is hoping to accomplish, but Ren is nothing if not a nosy guy.

He may have been brought back from a tragic and untimely end in a limbless, soulless form that left him unable to feel love, and he may have reset the timeline an unknowable amount of times until everyone around him felt like nothing but arbitrary lines of code to him, but it's fine don't worry about it.

Flowey has made a few steps forward (and a few steps back) in trying to improve himself since he got here and he's living his edgiest tween life right now... mostly.

Firoza is my Warrior of Light from the critically acclaimed MMORPG etc etc, you know the meme. She's just finished up her cool summer vacation adventure in Dawntrail, so we're kind of on a renewing, healing sort of energy with our travels here. She's used to being a Paladin, aka a tank with some serious defensive capabilities...but I'm happy to say she's mostly adjusted to her new form and its limitations/abilities. Still works very hard not to poison anyone on accident, or push too hard in spars with her fellows (though she can absolutely get carried away if you push certain buttons). Her hobbies include weaving/sewing, enjoying some excellent bread, learning about new sword things, and helping people whosoever they might be. Even if they need you to collect or transport poop.

Final Fantasy XIV sure is a game.

I'm going to drop a bunch of older threads (some I want to continue, it's just been. A Lot.) to make way for new ones! Please assume Firoza was on autopilot last month, focused on helping clear snow and stock up firewood and kindling for others, kind of distant, mostly introspective. She grew up in the frigid wastes of Garlemald, this is not unusual weather, but it takes effort to live through it. She may be a little fuzzy on current events, so focused on *survival* as she was, that she may need you to catch her up and introduce her to the new people...

Noelle Holiday is a classic 'girl next door' type and the childhood friend of Kris, the protagonist of Deltarune. She's the mayor's daughter, a diligent student, a member of the church choir, a member of the Cross Country Team, and a gamer and horror enthusiast. She has a little trouble speaking up for herself, and her family life is a little strained.

In Deltarune Chapter 2, she had a chance to go on a wonderful adventure with Kris and get stronger. Was it really a dream...?

PLANS:

Noelle has been claimed for a Heavy Quest as well (I apologize 🙇‍♀️) but may do another quest or two. She could handle Tough Luv with ease as a Grass Type, but she's also reluctant to use her powers to fight anymore. Speaking of LOVE, Valentine's Day is coming up and she'll be trying to make treats for her friends! (And someone special...?!?!)

She's also been gaming on the handheld console she got, so maybe come game with her? Spend time with her in one of the clubs, perhaps?

Oh boy, time to condense this Fae Queen's background! Now, Dolly has been tossed about as of recently from her original home on Tir Na Nog, to Earth, then to Doriene by accident, and now the Pokemon World. After getting sorted into Lum Berry, Dolly has been having a pretty good and easy time adjusting with her guild mates along with getting glasses crafted for her. Even better, Dolly has learned about there being other non human characters and is starting to relax more. She now has her astrolabe!

Heading into the personality department, Dolly most of the time, is pretty reserved in her own right, only letting loose her enthusiasm and excitement when something of her interests comes up. Dolly likes to keep calm and see if things can be talked through first before getting into fights. Dolly is very much full of wonder about the world around now that she is out for the first time. Sharing fun stories, especially ghost stories, are a very good way of getting Dolly to like people and in return will share stories that she knows of. Dolly is afraid of the dark thanks to where she came from and can get anxious at times. She can also sass a bit when the right buttons are pushed. The only time Dolly will fight is if she’s being threatened and even then, Dolly is the kind to hold back big time to avoid doing serious harm. Should be noted, Dolly likes to pun, a lot...

Boy golly! Dolly sure had a time with the dreamshare mishap! She's currently nervous now that the Museum was visited and what consequences to come afterwards with a lot of information about herself being revealed! Surely this won't bite her in the tail (oh it will...)

After the dreamshare mishap, I'm fully planning on having some CRs to build afterwards with what happened. I am definitely eying the Ringing Risk Heavy Quest for Dolly as well as the lighter quests available :')

Once upon a time in Ventana Del Alma, an absolutely hideously awful couple decided to reproduce and spawned Catrina. Catrina went on to being the quote on quote 'normal' member of the family of mobsters by being an opera singer. The teen years were awful, her older brother ran away, a new hideous monster called Lola came into being, and ended up being prepped for becoming the next head for the family owned mafia. At nineteen, Catrina pretty much pulled a Jigglypuff during an opera concert and ran away as well for the next nine years as a traveling bard while looking for her brother.

Jumping over the Pry Gala, finding her brother, the subsequent assassination of her Mom and Lola via divine wish granting, Ventana Del Alma getting attacked by mutants and vampires, Ventana Del Alma getting the magical equivalent of a nuke, and moving to Estrella Del Rio. Catrina has been through a roller coaster and has magically found herself as an awful candle here in the Pokemon world. Who wants to take in this awful creature? She offers pinecones to eat. Good news! This Candle monster is learning the magic of friendship finally!

Catrina is still recovering from the dreamshare mishap, sort've hissing and biting at anyone that gets too close to her at the moment. The Prima Donna candle is gonna want her beauty sleep (Well until she hears about one of the heavy quests that is..)

PLANS:

Catrina is gonna be coming in BIG TIME for the Frightening Freeze and will fixate on it big time. She wants her monstrous Froslass...Catrina your taste is awful.

Formerly the notorious Big Bad Wolf of fairytale fame, Bigby is now the exhausted sheriff of Fabletown in New York City circa the 1980s. Despite wanting to move on from his brutal past, his fellow Fables aren’t so easily convinced that he’s around to serve their best interests even after centuries on the job already. There’s a part of him that doesn’t think he deserves their forgiveness either, that he’s just suppressing the monster he really is, but he’s desperate to keep trying to protect those who need him.

He often skirts the line between sympathetic and ruthless depending on the situation, but in general, he’s mostly just rough around the edges and maybe a little sarcastic on his best days. Bigby can be pretty quick on picking things up, too, but his short temper can easily lead him astray when pushed enough. The man is perpetually on the verge of another crash out, please do not remind him (or do, so he can let out some pent-up frustration)!!

PLANS:

Going to be focusing on finishing up backtags this month, so he's not going to be around as much. Still working on odd jobs, still recovering from nightmare poisoning, you know how it goes. The whole dream situation is fuzzy, but he's not going to want to talk about what the hell was going on in his unless someone beats it out of him. Dreams don't mean anything. Don't worry about it. Bigby will remember everyone who helped him last month though, so consider that a future favor in the pocket if ever needed!

He is going to be having a wonderful time going on a bounty with Flowey this month, but he's entirely open for any light quests. Tough Luv or Light Construction immediately stick out because he's an Electric-type and a portable flashlight. Any are fine though so long as we're good to handwave! Also someone please convince Bigby to unblock Flowey for at least a little bit. It'll be so good for him. Trust me.

He is now a monster-obsessed-turned-Pokémon-fanatic, and he will be excited to try all the food Bottlecap Bay has to offer. Yes, that means everything. Wait, hold on, please don't go yet—

Laios has always struggled to fit in, but despite his experiences (or more likely because of them), he's far more kind and accepting than most would give him credit for. He may not know how to show it correctly, but he genuinely means well and holds every friendship he does manage to make very close to his heart.

Also. He has an impressive dog impersonation. He's very excited to show it off as an actual dog. Why wouldn't you want to be his friend because he's still an absolute weirdo, that's why.

PLANS:

Laios will also be busy keeping to himself this month while I go through some backtags. More training, more hunting, more helping out his local buddies the Miltanks and Wooloos. Having dealt with Nightmares in canon, he's surprisingly not so bothered by what happened, but he does kind of feel bad about how he acted at the clinic. Whoops! Ignore that!

Laios is still open for a heavy quest! I am leaning toward Glittering Guerrilla, mostly because he hasn't had much opportunity to go out to Furnace Mountain yet, but any can definitely work, so long as we keep the party to three max. Otherwise, all light quests to handwave sound good, with Total Whiteout or Blink And Missing as ones he'd be good at.

Kinger was originally a human, a long time ago, but for the last unknown amount of time (implied to be decades) he has been trapped in the digital avatar of a chess piece inside of a digital realm from which there is no escape. Which is why it took him a while to accept that he had, in fact, escaped into a different fantasy realm. Kinger has incredibly poor memory and focus, only being able to gather his thoughts when he's in the dark.

Kinger has gained a bit of confidence in his moves over the past month, and is eager to put them to the test!

I have a lot of backtagging to do, but I do want Kinger to do Ringing Risk with someone at least, since it's the only heavy quest he's not wildly ill-fitted for. I also absolutely want to do Blink and Missing, and I'm also down for Oko's player quest.

The archaeologist of the Straw Hat Pirates, with a bounty on her head of 80,000,000. She arrived in Bottlecap Bay after an encounter with the Warlord Bartholomew Kuma sent her and her crew flying to different parts of the world, and apparently in her case (and Sanji's), to a different world entirely.

She has been tasked by Ribombee to use her skills to explore and discover more about their surroundings, and to investigate why Cheri Berries in particular keep falling into comas.

PLANS:

Robin's biggest priority will be talking to people who work in the clinic, and I will probably put up a catch-all prompt for that soon. I also want to do either Glittering Guerrilla or Frightening Freeze, no strong preference between the two. I'd also be down for light quests.
