ICly, Rankings will show the points earned of all Pokemon in guilds, including NPC Pokemon not listed here OOCly. We didn't list guild leaders this time, but might in the future for fun. Keep in mind that quests available to player characters are not the entire pool of quests, and that some are likely snatched up before they can get to them regularly, which is how points vary and how some guilds pull ahead even without much player help. QUEST UPDATES & IMPORTANT NOTICES

A big thank-you to everyone enjoying Bottlecap Bay’s Questboard system! We have a quick note regarding quest deadlines, which can be seen in the current posting.

After internal discussion, we have decided to adjust the deadlines for quests to give mods more breathing room for processing. For light quests, this is just a few days before the end of the month! But for heavy quests, the initial submission is being moved closer to the middle of the month. This will ensure that mods have enough time to write customized experiences for these quests, while players are still given enough leeway to begin their follow-up thread and submit it.

In addition, following the dreamshare event, the kinks in the Grumpearl upgrades have been ironed out, and a handful of new Grumpearl features are available!

Characters are now able to block pearl messages - both blocking all public transmissions while still receiving inbox transmissions, and/or blocking specific other characters (whether messages are public or inbox). If a character is blocked, but is sending something in public, the blocker will still perceive public responses to that character unless they block all public transmissions. A blocked character will be able to tell that they were blocked only once they try to send an inbox transmission to whoever blocked them, in which case they'll feel it being rejected - in public, it will just seem as though they're being ignored. A blocked character will also still be able to see all public transmissions made by whoever blocked them.

(OOCly, this has been calculated for maximum drama. Please enjoy.)

In addition, characters are now optionally able to have a Grumpearl wake them up if they receive a message in their sleep. (The Grumpigs promise there will be no more dream hiccups!)

As a final note, we realized some points went missing during December’s calculation - this has hopefully been fixed, but please let us know if that isn’t the case!

There are a lot of exciting things planned for the incoming year, so please continue to enjoy Bottlecap Bay!

INCOMING EVENTS

Reports of mysterious, over-powered Pokemon have begun filtering back to the bay, meriting investigation! Unfortunately, chaos doesn’t take turns - after all the warning and preparations, February brings a massive avalanche and Pokemon in Skull Town preparing for exploration will find themselves sidetracked in responding to disaster! Of course, that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the thawing winter either.

Emporio was made to be a Cubone. He's got his mom's bones sitting in his house as we speak (thanks SINTO), he's got the sad backstory, the tragedy, the works. He's adjusted very well to being in Bottlecap, on account of it being so much better than...Basically everything he's had! ..And other spoiler reasons. Emporio's still trying to design his High-tier house, so he still lives in a middle tier with Anasui, and over all he can be seen...basically helping at the clinic, or at the Guild Archives. If it wasn't all snowy out, he'd be doing a lot more around the town!

Unfortunately, it's snowy, and while it's probably gonna melt at some point, he's very allergic to all of that on account of him being a ground type. Big oofs. Good kid over all though.

PLANS:

QUESTSSSSSSS. Last month I took a bit of a breather from quests, mostly to try and get some stuff in order (though I did do one or two small ones anyway)...But this month!!!

Looking at the Heavies, since we can only pick one for our characters, I'm absolutely going for that Glittering Guerrilla! I'm down to have a team of just two, but I'm also okay with a team of three- I figure, as long as we can manage tag order, it should be fine!

Beyond the Bounty, Emporio probably can't really do a whole lot on the other quests...but I'm happy to join others for them regardless, and I'll also be keeping an eye on Player quests!!

(Don't think I can make my own player quest sadly which means chances are high the glitter bone clean up will have to just be a thing featured in a log. Alas....)

Parvati is a kindhearted woman from the far future where everyone lives in a capitalist hellscape called outer space. She's been in the Bay for a while now and has been grappling with a lot of feelings about her own morality which I'd like to bring to the forefront at some point. She can't exactly help her nature as a bloodthirsty Tinkaton but she doesn't feel great about it either, and she's said a lot of things she doesn't agree with in hindsight. But she is still very sweet and very kind, always willing to help a friend, etc.

As the Bay's engineer turned handywoman characters may have seen her around regardless of having actually spoken to her because she's always on a side quest. She will even aid in side quests! As an RPG companion please let her carry your heavy inventory she is dying to carry your heavy inventory. She misses home an awful lot, her girlfriend especially since she's been away from her longer than they were together, and is dealing with that normal style.

PLANS:

First off: I am totally down to keep backtagging the TDM! That was a juicy prompt and I think everyone still had the hangover from the holidays so if anyone does want to continue on that feel free to! On the future planning side of things - I got my shit together and my points in order (thank you Bre!), so the photo log post thingy will probably happen sometime this month. Which is definitely better for both thematic and practical reasons.

I definitely wanna get both my girls into a heavy quest but Parvati's unsurprisingly locked and loaded to do one with Perrin. See Eleanor's below if you wanna do a heavy with me still. In terms of other quests, Parvs is always down to be a good samaritan so just lemme know! She can do them with whoever since Perrin's gonna deal with the horrors. I would like some CR shennanigans this month in lieu of Valentine's (hence the photo) and you all may have to deal with her being a useless biromantic. Sorry.

Ren has been here since th start, and he's learned a thing or two about being a Pokemon, and about himself. He's still the same reckless, showy Phantom Thief we all know and love, but he's gotten a bit calmer while being here... mostly out of necessity. He got hit early on with supernatural nightmares, and still has a nasty forehead scar and chronic pain as a result. He's learned to live with it, mostly, but sometimes needs to be reminded to sit down and rest. He just cares a lot about his friends and about doing the right thing! (note: the right thing may not always be what you expect. He can be a bit of a troll, after all.)

He and Akechi have also entered a relationship, but they're still competing all the time! In fact, isn't this relationship a bit of a competition in itself...? Scary!

For christmas, he also got his Phantom Thief outfit back, made to fit his Pokemon form. Swanky!

PLANS:

I'm planning to have Ren do a heavy quest with Akechi and Noelle, but some smaller quest are definitely also on the menu! If you don't mind handwaving them, I won't mind either (in fact, I may prefer it; SAD continues to affect me).

TOTAL WHITEOUT, BLINK AND MISSING, TOUGH LUV and LIGHT CONSTRUCTION are all quests Ren would like to do this month. The player quest TRIANGLE MAN also intrigues him. He's not sure what exactly Oko is hoping to accomplish, but Ren is nothing if not a nosy guy.

Oh, also! If you saw Ren's dream last month you can ambush him about it. Y'know. If you want.

Oh boy, time to condense this Fae Queen's background! Now, Dolly has been tossed about as of recently from her original home on Tir Na Nog, to Earth, then to Doriene by accident, and now the Pokemon World. After getting sorted into Lum Berry, Dolly has been having a pretty good and easy time adjusting with her guild mates along with getting glasses crafted for her. Even better, Dolly has learned about there being other non human characters and is starting to relax more. She now has her astrolabe!

Heading into the personality department, Dolly most of the time, is pretty reserved in her own right, only letting loose her enthusiasm and excitement when something of her interests comes up. Dolly likes to keep calm and see if things can be talked through first before getting into fights. Dolly is very much full of wonder about the world around now that she is out for the first time. Sharing fun stories, especially ghost stories, are a very good way of getting Dolly to like people and in return will share stories that she knows of. Dolly is afraid of the dark thanks to where she came from and can get anxious at times. She can also sass a bit when the right buttons are pushed. The only time Dolly will fight is if she’s being threatened and even then, Dolly is the kind to hold back big time to avoid doing serious harm. Should be noted, Dolly likes to pun, a lot...

Boy golly! Dolly sure had a time with the dreamshare mishap! She's currently nervous now that the Museum was visited and what consequences to come afterwards with a lot of information about herself being revealed! Surely this won't bite her in the tail (oh it will...)

PLANS:

After the dreamshare mishap, I'm fully planning on having some CRs to build afterwards with what happened. I am definitely eying the Ringing Risk Heavy Quest for Dolly as well as the lighter quests available :')

Firoza is my Warrior of Light from the critically acclaimed MMORPG etc etc, you know the meme. She's just finished up her cool summer vacation adventure in Dawntrail, so we're kind of on a renewing, healing sort of energy with our travels here. She's used to being a Paladin, aka a tank with some serious defensive capabilities...but I'm happy to say she's mostly adjusted to her new form and its limitations/abilities. Formerly the notorious Big Bad Wolf of fairytale fame, Bigby is now the exhausted sheriff of Fabletown in New York City circa the 1980s. Despite wanting to move on from his brutal past, his fellow Fables aren’t so easily convinced that he’s around to serve their best interests even after centuries on the job already. There’s a part of him that doesn’t think he deserves their forgiveness either, that he’s just suppressing the monster he really is, but he’s desperate to keep trying to protect those who need him.

He often skirts the line between sympathetic and ruthless depending on the situation, but in general, he’s mostly just rough around the edges and maybe a little sarcastic on his best days. Bigby can be pretty quick on picking things up, too, but his short temper can easily lead him astray when pushed enough. PLANS:

Going to be focusing on finishing up backtags this month, so he's not going to be around as much. Still working on odd jobs, still recovering from nightmare poisoning, you know how it goes. The whole dream situation is fuzzy, but he's not going to want to talk about what the hell was going on in his unless someone beats it out of him. Dreams don't mean anything. Don't worry about it. Bigby will remember everyone who helped him last month though, so consider that a future favor in the pocket if ever needed!

He is going to be having a wonderful time going on a bounty with Flowey this month, but he's entirely open for any light quests. Tough Luv or Light Construction immediately stick out because he's an Electric-type and a portable flashlight. Any are fine though so long as we're good to handwave! Also someone please convince Bigby to unblock Flowey for at least a little bit. It'll be so good for him. Trust me.

To make up for that, I also might send him to Skull Town to help with avalanche stuff, so let me know if anyone is interested in that!

Enigmatic Spinarak-turned-Hatenna who normally fails to introduce herself and has only referred to herself as "Hatenna" openly when asked. Fond of soup. If the emotions of others are too concentrated in an area she can't avoid, she's been known to been found barely conscious at times...

She's working on her "being encouraging" instead of "being bullying" mindset even if some people just end up being too trollable... mostly just trying to balance extreme emotions in her vicinity to deal. She keeps a lot personal to herself due to her own issues, but she also can't quite process certain personal aspects about herself either, resulting in deflecting a lot to avoid dealing with any of her own issues, usually by going on lots of varying missions all of the time. It's fine :) Don't worry about it :)

Aside from that, she has made a point of looking after both Guilmon and Aegiomon respectively. (As for the room upgrade, she's still sharing with those two, but she keeps it in mind, good to have options.)

PLANS:

Most of the usual - continuing to build CR/following up on anything ongoing. She does tend to hover around the board areas at times to pick up quests to keep busy, if anyone doesn't mind the +1 psychic hat teaming along, she's a known reliable workaholic at this point, probably, even if she does prefer exploring over the physical work but shhh.

All that to say, open for joining a heavy quest if possible, and light quests for sure, and still up for continuing threads on the last event post.

Then he meets the protagonist, briefly gets worse out of pure envy and frustration, and ends up finally asking the protag to save his family where he could not.

Also he has a deep interest in history. So much so that when he tried breaking into the protag's house to spy he ended up getting distracted by the large amount of historic artifacts in the attic/started excitedly infodumping about the artifacts at the protag when he showed up to intervene. Nerd.

PLANS:

Now that he's been around a few months and has settled in, III is falling back on his old hyper protective tendencies/desire to do something to help. He'll want to take on a heavy quest, despite the risk, (looking at Ringing Risk), but he can be recruited/redirected into any light quest.

Impmon started off as a vicious little jackass. His tamers were a pair of toddler siblings who constantly fought over him and took him for granted, so he rejected them and rejected humans altogether, but envied other Digimon who partnered with humans because of their power to digivolve and their positive relationships with the humans in question.

Desperate for the power to digivolve, he made a deal with some powerful Digimon in exchange for the ability to become Beelzemon, an insanely powerful Digimon. Drunk on power, he confronted the other Digimon and humans, killed one of the partner Digimon, and was narrowly defeated. The partner of the Digimon he killed fell into despair and became a vessel/power source for the D-Reaper, an out-of-control program that wanted to delete reality. Impmon got several reality checks, reconciled with his tamers, and helped the other Digimon fight the D-Reaper, almost dying in the process. As a result, he's... trying to be a better person now. Key word is "trying."

He's decided that he likes making soap, so he's gonna be a little obsessed with that for a while.

PLANS:

OKAY last month was not appreciably better than Christmas because we had payouts at work but I'm hoping (fingers crossed) that this month is more active.

There's only one person Impmon would want to block on the pearls, and that's Flowey- and he's too stubborn to do that. As such, unless somebody else blocks him (a not-unreasonable decision tbh) he will not know what the fuss is about. That said, feel free to tell me OOC if Impmon has been blocked, because the little idiot will not put it together and it has comedy potential.

Heavy quests: I'm down for any one of these, and if you want to have Impmon help you identify an ultra beast, by the looks of it a strange new Pokemon, trust me when I say that you could not have picked a more useless ally. He got the spirit, but boy, he still has not adjusted to being a weak little pipsqueak again.

Other quests: Both Total Whiteout and Light Construction are actually right up Impmon's alley, and in fact Light Construction has the rare distinction of being something this little fuckup is actually good at. Hit me up!

Goro Akechi suffered an awful life due to societal stigmas against illegitimate children and the children of sex workers, made worse by his mother's death and years cycling through orphanages and neglectful foster homes. Eventually he awakened a power he barely understood and, jaded by a life of pain, decided to hatch a stupid revenge plan against his father that led to him effectively being a child assassin masquerading as a prettyboy detective. Fun!

Akechi has since dropped his "detective prince" mask and is now a very jaded, aloof, and serious person who is still fiercely determined to prove himself, uncover the mysteries of this world. He sees this world as a fresh start and is trying to be a better person, but is highly suspicious of certain a uthority figures like Ribombee and, to a certain extent, Polteageist. He, Ren, and Flowey also kinda sorta have an unofficial detective trio thing going. Additionally, he's super invested in documenting and solving the mysteries of this world and has copious notes as well as a conspiracy wall to track everything.

ABOUT:

An amalgam of vengeful orphan and destructive demon, RS was once all about destroying the world (ostensibly to avenge his ghost-family, but also it seemed like fun); but after the Cursed Artifact he inhabited was purified, the tortured souls trapped with him were freed and he was deleted - er, rather, yeeted into the world of Bottlecap Bay. He was depressed about this for a good while, thinking his ghost collection was gone forever, but he has started feeling better after finding them here! (He has not found them. A local Spiritomb has Hoodwinked him.)

PLANS:

Frankly RS needs to figure out a new balance for "normal". He's gotten over missing his family (denial is strong and the Spiritomb's helping the delusion along), so he's started getting some of his malicious sass back, but if his family is finally happy then he shouldn't wreck the place they're living in, right? So... he needs to eventually figure out what his purpose is if The Goal is just. forever off-limits. This isn't as hard as it could be, since he's long used to not consciously knowing what The Goal consisted of, but he associates full lack of Goal with Depression Time. He'd lowkey like an actual purpose, he's normally being driven by something.

Most recently, he fell into that odd coma folks are prone to here, for all of December and then most of January - finally coming to again at the end of the dreamshare event. Let me know if you're still looking for folks to tag into your dreamshares btw! I was really out of it for most of January... for this month, I'm not looking for him to join any heavy quests. He might potentially sign up for Light Construction; but primarily I want to focus on expanding/strengthening his CR this month.

Seto Kaiba was an angry dragon man (likes dragons) before he got here, and he's an angry dragon man (is dragon) now! He has an abrasive personality and disdains teamwork, but he has charisma with big crowds apparently, search me HOW...

Anyway, he's an ALPHA GAMER WHO IS BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE AND HE MAKES HIS OWN HARDWARE FOR HIS special interest FAVORITE GAME!! WITH HIS SPECIAL DRAGON wife THAT ONLY HE HAS COPIES OF BECAUSE ONLY 3 COPIES EXIST AND THEY ARE HIS!!!!! I'm also convinced he bought out Industrial Illusions because who else would be making support for Blue-Eyes when he's the only owner of the cards?

If you can deal with his ego, he's actually Getting A Little Better about teamwork, maybe. Sort of. He's still a jerk.

PLANS:

Last month Kaiba would have been noticeably absent. Guess he found himself a nice warm spot to hibernate after all! (temporarily, because he's up and at 'em again!)

I am VERY INTERESTED in having Kaiba team up with someone on Ringing Risk! I'm also open to light quests, but he'll be a total downer about it, he's really only doing it for earning brownie points and because he's bored af.

Soon I will also be making a network post where he asks about general infrastructure, because he thinks the Pokemon are living in the stone ages and he also hates it. GIVE HIM ELECTRICITY THAT DOES NOT COME FROM A POKEMON!!

I did miss out on dreamshare, but if anyone would like Kaiba there, give me a prod and I'll say his ass was dreaming while he was hiatus sleepin', I don't mind playing in the event if it's not too late and I'm wanted somewhere. :3

Oh, as a bonus, he will also have clothes again. Yay for him! :V

Murderer with a heart of gold. Though Anasui is rude, aggressive, and antisocial, he truly is a good guy and wishes nothing more than to marry the love of his life (who is not even here). You can mostly find him in the clinic helping out as a med student or (more likely) out disassembling things because he's stressed. When asked, Anasui will claim that he's stressed because the Archive is so unorganised and he's not allowed to dismantle it and remake it properly, lol.

PLANS:

Catching up! Anasui is going to do the heavy quest with Robin and Catrina and do his best not to pull his feathers out. Looking for partners to do all the light quests with too!
